Organizer FAQ: ticketing, voting, and refunds

The questions organizers ask most about tickets, voting, and refunds. Search below, or browse the three groups.

Ticketing

What is the difference between a seat and a ticket?

A seat is a free reservation that holds a place in the room. It has no deadline and it gives no entry. A ticket is paid and it gives a QR code, which is what gets someone through the door. No QR code means no access.

How many ticket tiers can I create?

The first tier is Standard, and it is always there. After that you can add any number of tiers with any names, such as VIP, VVIP, or Enterprise.

What can I put on a tier?

A name, a price, an optional image, an optional discount code, and a ticket message. There is also a global ticket message that applies to all tickets.

Can I stop guests from buying?

Yes. Turn on “require authorization before purchase” and the buyer has to be a signed-in Evittone user rather than a guest.

How do attendees pay?

Payments go through Paystack. Attendees can pay with mobile money through MTN, Telecel, or AirtelTigo, or by card.

What happens when the tickets sell out?

When the paid tickets fill capacity, the unpaid booked seats are released to paying buyers. The event is marked as having outsold its tickets and exceeded its target.

Can I build the seat list for the room?

Yes. Add seats one by one, or auto-generate them with a prefix and a start and end number. A prefix of A with 0 to 100 gives A0, A1, A2, and so on, with a preview before you commit. Taken seats show as taken. Seat booking can be disabled afterwards.

Voting

What is the difference between simple and advanced voting?

Simple voting is free and asks a question with options, one vote per user, and it must be launched before the event starts. Advanced voting is the full process: a nomination period, categories with a price per vote and a nomination fee, paid voting, bulk voting, and sign-in requirements.

Can attendees nominate people?

Yes, in advanced voting. Nominations belong to advanced voting only, and they are open while the nomination window is. Simple voting has no nominees.

Is voting free?

Simple voting is free. In advanced voting you set a price per vote and a nomination fee, and you can turn on paid voting and bulk voting.

When must the vote be launched?

A simple vote must be launched before the event starts. Advanced voting runs on the schedule you set for nominations and for voting.

Can one person buy more than one vote?

Yes, if you turn on bulk voting in advanced voting.

Can I require people to sign in before they vote or nominate?

Yes. Advanced voting has sign-in requirements for voters and for nominees. You can also keep nominations open while the voting is running.

Refunds

Who approves a refund?

You do, the organizer. Refunds are not automatic, so a requested refund is waiting on your approval.

How does an attendee request a refund?

The attendee requests it on the booking, and you approve it from the dashboard.

Where does the refunded money go?

Back to the original payment method.

What if a refund is never processed?

Attendees can file a complaint. See the Help Center for how a complaint is raised.

Does a refund free up the seat?

[TO CONFIRM: whether an approved refund returns the seat to the event automatically]
