Getting started
How do I create an account?
Create an account from the sign-up page, then sign in and your profile is ready. You need an account to book a seat, buy a ticket, vote, rate, or follow an organization.
How do I find events near me?
Open the map from the home page. Every event appears as a pin, and you can filter the map by category, date, price, and location. You can also search by keyword and browse what is trending, new, or nearest to you.
How do I get to an event?
Open the event and use the in-app directions to get to the venue. You can bookmark an event and come back to it later.
Seats and tickets
What is the difference between a booked seat and a ticket?
A booked seat reserves your place in the room and does not cost anything, but it does not get you in. A ticket is what gets you through the door. Buying a ticket gives you a QR code to show at the event.
What happens if the paid tickets sell out?
If the paid tickets sell out, the unpaid booked seats are released. That way the room is not held by seats that nobody paid for.
What ticket types can an event have?
The first tier is Standard, and organizers can add any number of further tiers with their own names, such as VIP, VVIP, or Enterprise. Each tier has its own price, an optional image, an optional discount code, and a ticket message.
How do I pay for a ticket?
Payments go through Paystack. You can pay with mobile money through MTN, Telecel, or AirtelTigo, or pay by card.
Where is my ticket?
Your ticket is in the app with the QR code you show at the event. If you cannot find it, open the event from your tickets and check that you are signed in to the account that bought it.
Refunds and cancellations
How do I cancel a booking?
Open the booking from the app and cancel it. The seat is released back to the event.
How do refunds work?
You request a refund on the booking, and the organizer approves it. An approved refund is returned to the payment method you used. If a refund is never processed, raise it as a complaint from this Help Center and we will follow it up.
How long does a refund take?
The organizer has to approve the refund first, and the money is returned to your original payment method after that. If the approval is taking too long, raise a complaint here.
Ratings, feedback, and voting
Who can rate an event?
Only verified attendees. Your ticket QR code is scanned at the event, and only someone who was scanned in can leave a rating.
How are ratings calculated?
Attendees rate from one to five stars, and the average rating for the event is public.
Can I edit feedback I have written?
Yes. You can edit your feedback for five minutes after you post it. After that it stays as written. Other attendees can read your feedback, but there is no comment box under a rating.
Can someone remove feedback that is inappropriate?
Yes. The organizer can remove feedback that is abusive or targeted.
Will other attendees see my name?
No. An event shows attendees how many people are coming. It does not show other attendees’ names or photos.
How do organizer votes work?
An organizer can run a simple vote, which is free with one vote per user, or an advanced vote, which adds a nomination period, categories, a price per vote, a nomination fee, bulk voting, and sign-in requirements. Nominations belong to advanced voting only.
Following and community posts
Who can I follow?
You follow organizations, not other individual users. When an organization you follow announces a new event, you are notified and it appears in your following feed.
Who can make a community post?
Any user can post an announcement with a name, a banner, the start and end dates, a description, and a subcategory. Community posts are announcements only. They cannot sell tickets, take bookings, or run a vote.
Can I comment on a community post?
No. Posts can be liked and shared, but there are no comments.
Organizing an event
How do I become an organizer?
Apply from the For Organizers page. The application is step by step, and it is reviewed. An Evittone admin approves it, and your account becomes active once it is approved. One person can register at most two organizations on Evittone for now. You manage your events from the organizer dashboard at org.evittone.com.
How do seats work for my event?
You set up seats and then either create them yourself, one by one, or let Evittone generate them from a prefix and a start and end number, such as A0, A1, and A2. You see a preview before you commit them, taken seats show as taken, and you can disable seat booking afterwards.
Can I collect extra information from attendees?
Yes. Turn on registration, add a form with the field types you need, and set a registration limit on how many people can register.
How do I check people in on the day?
Check in by QR scan, or with an OTP code if scanning is not working for you. You set an attendance window, such as 30 or 60 minutes, and you can require login to mark attendance.
What can I see in the dashboard?
Sales, attendee count, revenue, ratings, income analytics by stream, and gross intake across channels. Per event you see seats booked, tickets purchased, tickets left, an outsold or outperformed indicator, vote counts, ratings, feedback, and registrations.
How do I pay out ticket earnings?
Withdraw your ticket earnings from the dashboard. Payout is through Paystack to the method you select, mainly mobile money, and every withdrawal is approved by an Evittone admin before it is processed. You can see the amount available, the total you have withdrawn, and any pending withdrawals. Minimum withdrawal: [TO CONFIRM: minimum withdrawal amount].
Can I send updates to my audience?
Yes. The notification composer sends updates over SMS, push notification, in-app message, and email.
